Export target of leather manufacturers is 2 billion dollars

Mustafa Şenocak, Chairman of the Board of Istanbul Leather and Leather Products Exporters Association (IDMIB), told the AA reporter that 11-month (January-November) exports in the leather and leather products industry amounted to approximately 1 billion 523 million dollars, and the export figure of last year was exceeded in November.

Şenocak predicted that the exports of 2018 will be closed with an increase of 12-13 percent compared to the previous year, "Our export last year was 1 billion 519 million dollars. Almost 1 month left of the year. We estimate that we will close 2018 with an export of 1.7 billion dollars. We aim to reach $ 2 billion in exports. " said.

Şenocak, who noted that a significant part of the exports in the sector with saddlery, footwear, leather garments and semi-finished sub-sectors, was exported to EU countries, Russia and the USA, and that it believes that exports to 180 countries in total and exports to the USA and African countries will continue at an accelerated rate.

Şenocak, "just skin We export nearly 130 countries, leather apparel products we look to the garments. Most exports in Russia, we are France and Italy. We are working at 50 percent capacity when we look at the overall sector this figure far below Turkey's overall average. Currently our exports do not reflect the potential of the industry. " he spoke.
